my sister's wedding

It's been a while since I posted (and actually took) a Ricoh photo ;) In these rush days, my iPhone almost completely replaced my usual Ricoh/Silkypix workflow, because iPhone is always with me and it allows me to instantly share the photos with my family. Anyway, I did not forget about Ricoh ;) Last weekend, I had an opportunity to take some photos at my sister's wedding. There was an official wedding photographer with heavy photo gear, so I took only few candid photos. I've used GRD IV with attached DW-6 to get a bit wider focal length. So here are some photos I took that day and some "after-wedding" photos when bride and groom returned home.

Congratulations Pavel, and good luck to the young couple!
The two little boys in #1 and #5 steal the show....

Pavel, beautiful photos. She's lucky to have you, not as lucky as you to have her but she's lucky.

The one in the back of the car, the three of them....priceless.
It's good to see your photos again...

Pavel, such nice wedding photos are rarely seen. Well done, congratulations. And such a pretty bride ...

Christian

Pavel, very nice to see this set of your relatives. I like the last one alot but am a bit curious about the egg box....some sort of fertility gift??!

Richard

Thanks for your kind comments folks! I will pass all your congratulations to my sister ;)

quester: if you mean that "crouching boy" on #5, it's actually my younger daughter Simonka (now 2.5y). But I agree it's hard to tell with her "summer" haircut :)

Don: I agree about the "back of the car" photo. It's my most favorite photo from all photos I took that day. I took three or four photos inside the car, but only this one is a keeper.

Richard: the last photo has been taken the next morning after the wedding, when my sister and her husband were going to visit and old auntie. They brought her some flowers and wedding sweets, hence the "egg" box. Actually, this auntie is not our relative. It's just a very kind neighbor from our street who we used to call auntie ;)

Thanks for sharing Pavel and good to see you again.
I like them all but #1 is puts me at the wedding.

I really enjoy the candid wedding job - I was "official wedding photog" once and did not enjoy it. It seems to be mostly about herding and wrangling people.
As the candid guy you get to try something outside the normal and I think you have done well.

As this is the Ricoh forum I note that the exif shows all taken with the GRD IV. Did you use the GXR at all?

Hi Tim,

I only took GRDIV with me, because even with attached DW6, I prefer its size over GXR + A12 module. To the last day before the wedding, I hoped to receive GR. But because of some problems with transport, it did not arrive on time (yet). So I took GRDIV, because of its possibility to mount DW6 on it and f1.9 lens. True, GXR 28mm provides way better ISO performance, but its lower DoF makes the focusing somewhat complicated and I was quite sure I will have no time for repeated shots. GRDIV proved to be a great performer, even under low light conditions. Almost no need of focus. I just set it to 1m or so distance and that was it ;) No need to wait for AF at all. Although I generally like the idea of APSC sensor in GR, I'm sure I will miss the high DoF of 1/1.7" CCD.

Far better than the usual set-up wedding photographs, Pavel. Congratulations to the whole family. I love the way one emotionally honest child (first photo) can steal the show! Great capture.

Hi, haven't been here for a long time. I like the photos very much, nice candid shots with classy look.

Congrats to your sister, and to you for the great shots as always. Your daughter that big, wow!

These photos are magnificent with the GRD IV. I do not dare to imagine that they would be with Gr APS-C.
