Genster, these were call Ford Cortina in Oz. My bro-inlaw had one and I drove it for a week. A bit of a tank! :lol:

Yes Genster,
this was the Mark 2 Lotus Cortina with 1558cc twin overhead cam engine and webber carbs. A real beast!
I can still remember the adrenaline rush when the half-shaft broke and the wheel fell off...I was racing a 3 litre Ford Capri at the time! :oops:
I am amazed I had the presence of mind to take the photograph whilst waiting the tow-truck...
I don't think I have a photo of the car in one piece...not like all you clever guys! ;)

Genster, you don't see them on the road anywhere any more...I guess they all rusted away? This was my company transport back in 1974, and the first vehicle in which I had a head-on collision...his fault, not mine of course! :lol:
However I do remember that the other car had hardly a scratch but the Simca van? Well, it just folded up! :eek:

Was it a Sunbeam Stiletto? Tha was the name of the souped up version.

The big Rover 820sli had a twin turbo, a long bonnet and did 0-60 in about 7.5s. Fat tyres, velour seat fabric, bright red paint

My dad had the simca 1100 GLS which we said meant "goes like sonofabitch"

They where rusty cars indeed. Whit this car I had once a flat tire and when I turned up the jack, the coconut mat came up on the inside :lol:
These cars, off course, had no airbag; were you unharmed Andy?
 
Hope you don't mind, but having no photos of my old cars I thought I would post a photo of my all time favourite. I had to let it go in august this year for a bigger vehicle to accommodate 3 grandchildren.

My Red Zed 4, 3 litre 6 pot.......exchanged for a Landrover Discovery 3. I cried when I handed the keys over. I adored the car....it was gorgeous.
