Visit to a castle

The arrival of the mother-in-law coincided with the arrival of a sunny day - quite unusual! We took a trip to Cawdor Castle and I've uploaded some shots of no particular artisitic merit for those who enjoy a bit of travel scenery. These were all with the GXR A12 28.

Very nice Richard. I visited a few castles when I was in Hawick and hopefully will do so again this year.

I must say, I really don't need to much pushing to follow Pete's path and do the GXR again. Of course, you're not helping the situation at all.....

Hi Richard,
I had forgotten how large Cawdor was...it has super interiors to! Must return again soon...thanks for the preliminary tour!

Nice one Richard.

the moment I read the name "Cawdor Castle" of course in my head, ping.. Shakespeare.
I'm betting you knew someone would bring up the MacBeth connection?!

Guys, thanks for all the encouraging comments. I'd recommend Cawdor Castle if you are ever near Inverness as it is a private home and the late Thane has written some very witty comments about the contents of the rooms which you don't get in the more corporate National Trust or Historic Scotland properties. Sadly the Dowager Countess does not approve of interior photography.

Nice shots, Richard. We had visited the castle also back in 2013 and I can confirm the place is charming though you have met better weather there. If you do not mind, I would post a few shots here, too.

Nice shots Peter. Was the one of the castle taken with something very wide (ie wider than 28mm)? We are lucky to have so many castles that are open to visit in the local area. Have you been to Dunrobin yet?

Or Brodie?

Good eye, Richard. Yes, it was shot by Nikkor 10-24mm, presumably near its 10mm end (15mm on APS-C naturally) for the effect and partially straightened afterwards during post-processing.

No, not yet. It looks worth visiting, too. Nevertheless, we visited Stirling and that was rather impressive though it is a different league.
