Welcome back after nearly 30 years

No, not yet, but maybe soon. After 40 years with photography with different cams (Praktica, Canon, Pentax), I bought the GR 1 in 1996 - and I loved it. Then came the GR 21 and 5 years later the GR digital. And then? I left my GR line, went to other brands, especially Leica and Olympus. Now at the moment, I‘m taking photographs with the Fujifilm X-T5. A wonderful cam, but with 75 years, you will not carry too much with you when you are travelling or walking around in your town. So my cam is mostly at home and I‘m taking my photographs with my iPhone 15 Pro Max which I‘m always carrying around with me. And it helped me sometimes more than my Fuji, especially on the ship in strong wind and high waves in front of the Lofoten Islands where I wanted to catch the Northern lights. I got wonderful photographs with my iPhone and its integrated long time exposure. But when I read about the new GR IV, I thought this could be a game changer. So I think I will get it as a kind of back to the roots. Maybe it will be the last cam in my life, maybe it‘s a little bit crazy to buy this cam when you are having a wonderful Fuji with all the objectives at home. But the Fuji will not help you as it‘s to heavy to carry it all the way around - and it‘s also too big for hand luggage in the airplane.
So what do you think about my idea?
Or should I wait for the iPhone 17 Pro and remain an iPhone photographer for the rest of my life???

Hello back!

For me, taking photos with my mobile phone is simply not the same as taking photos with my camera. The mobile phone undoubtedly takes good photos, and I have downloaded apps for long exposure and double exposure, but for me, taking photos with my mobile phone feels like cutting a fine meal with a Swiss Army knife...
I miss the feel of the camera, the faster heartbeat when I pick up the camera.
My way of taking photos has changed with the GRlllx... everything has become more playful, I hardly use my Olympus anymore.
What use is the Fuji in the cupboard if you no longer need it? Maybe a grandchild would enjoy it and you could go on a photo walk together, you with your new GRlV...
Whatever you decide, I wish you good light!
Best regards, Christian

@chrileu But I wonder if I will get the feel of an real camera with the GR IV. It‘s even smaller than my iPhone. So I changed a lot which is not expensive as a GR IV: Sold nearly all of my lenses and bought a wonderful little zoom lens. So I will try this combination during my next holidays. Maybe it works, then all is okay. Otherwise I will think about the GR IV!

I hope you enjoy your new macro lens!
And have a great holiday when the time comes...
Who knows, if the GRIV becomes a thing, there might also be a GRlVx...
Best regards, Christian

Sooner or later there will be a GR4x, I am sure. But I doubt that the GR4x will have a new designed lens.

I have both, GR3 and 3x. The main reason I am eager for the first reviews of the GR4 is the newly designed lens. If this comes closee the the Leica Q3 level, I might upgrade.
